How We Prepare Your Piece for Transport

Preparation starts before the truck is even loaded. Here’s a look at what goes into getting a custom piece ready for its journey across the GTA.

Wrapping and Padding

Every piece gets wrapped in furniture blankets and, depending on the complexity of the design, moving pads or foam corners are added to protect edges and legs. Finished surfaces — especially anything with an oil, wax, or lacquer finish — get extra care to prevent scuffing or pressure marks during transit.

For pieces with removable components (like shelving units with adjustable shelves or tables with extension leaves), we transport those elements separately and reassemble on-site whenever possible.

Securing the Load

We don’t leave furniture on your doorstep. We bring it inside, carry it to the room it belongs in, and position it where you want it. If there are stairs, tight hallways, or tricky corners involved, we’ll discuss that ahead of time — sometimes it helps to share photos or measurements of your space so we can plan accordingly.

Assembly When Needed

Some custom pieces are designed to be partially disassembled for transport and put back together on-site. If your piece requires any assembly, we handle it. You shouldn’t have to touch a screwdriver.

Final Inspection Together

Before we leave, we do a walkthrough of the piece with you. This is your opportunity to look it over in the light of your own space, check the finish, confirm everything is exactly as ordered, and ask any questions about care and maintenance. We want you to feel completely confident before we head back to Innisfil.

Preparing Your Home for Delivery

A smooth delivery is a two-way street. Here are a few things you can do to help everything go as seamlessly as possible.

Measure your doorways and hallways. Custom furniture is sized to your specs, but it still needs to fit through your home’s existing openings. If you have any concerns about a tight entry, let us know early — sometimes we can design with disassembly in mind.

Clear the path. Remove any rugs, fragile items, or furniture that’s currently in the way of the route from your front door to the intended room. This makes movement faster and reduces the chance of anything getting bumped.

Have someone home. Delivery requires an adult on-site to receive the piece, do the walkthrough, and confirm placement. Make sure you or someone you trust is available during the delivery window.

Think about placement in advance. It sounds simple, but having a clear idea of where you want the piece — and which direction it should face — saves time and avoids moving it twice once it’s inside.
